When I first officially started sewing for other people Desiree was the first person to jump all over it. She was actually one of the very first people who actually saw me take my first steps into all of this and has been extremely supportive and encouraging throughout this journey (it's just who she is).

Fast forward one year later I still had not made the jumpsuit I promised to make Desiree, mostly because I was super sensitive and scared I would mess up (nervous laugh). So I kept making jumpsuits for myself and maybe one other person and the rest of the world lol. Desiree was not having this and subtly kept hinting on social media that she was still waiting LOL.

Anyways, I said I had been making things for everyone else but her and so I got myself together and told her I was ready to make her jumpsuit. As per process, I asked her to show me ideas of what she wanted and colors that she liked.  She finally picked out an off shoulder jumpsuit inspired by Style Pantry

Desiree wanted a different bottom style and so I asked her to bring me her favorite set of pants so I could make the bottom in a style that she loved. That right there was what sealed the deal.

I got to work and completed her jumpsuit in time for a conference Desiree was speaking at. Desiree came in for her fitting and everything fit perfectly. I used a lightweight Crepe fabric with an elasticated waist, the off shoulder feature and for ease in and out an invisible zipper on the shoulder.  Let's not forget the pockets LOL We love our pockets. All I remember afterward was her saying "I love it" I love it"

Day of the conference I managed to connect with Desiree again (She looked gorgeous) and before I could get in a word she was like OMG I have gotten so many compliments on this Jumpsuit. I love it it is so comfortable, I love it and want it in all colors.

This is the joy of sewing for me. Watching Fabric transform into something wearable but then making someone feel beautiful, comfortable and have them hear those compliments ring in. I love it

The McCall pattern company was hosting a contest for one of their most popular patterns M7542. This was an easy sew and easy to get very creative with. I decided to go ahead and put in my entry and added lace trim to it. I love lace and find that I am not sewing as much as I wish I could with it, So I said this is my chance.

I was totally honored to even be mentioned as a runner-up and I didn't think I would make it. I went about my business again and then Judith Dee mentioned, I was actually a winner.. Whaaaaat meeeeeee. How exciting.

Anyways, I am thankful someone thought my creation was noteworthy. I love everyone's make of this top and its a great easy sew to try. I hope you try it too. Here are other looks from my entry.

I must say I have fallen in love with this off shoulder trend. Please pray for me because I feel like my whole wardrobe will soon be taken over by this trend.

I decided to see how this would look with the dashiki leftover fabric I had. This was an easy project, not more than an hour and all you need is one panel of the dashiki. I love how it turned out and will definitely be making more.

I was scrolling through facebook and a Macy's ad showing a Thalia Sodi off shoulder ruffled dress popped up. I was like wow I have to have that but for the $90 price tag I was like erm nope. Recreate!!

If you have noticed, (maybe not) off shoulder fashion is trending. I am not usually one to follow trends but for some reason I am all over this one. It is cute and flirty and very comfortable depending on the variation you go for. Anyways this was an easy  make and I think if you have basic sewing knowledge you can do it, so I will give you some direction of what I did.

I do not have a  passion for thrifting. I think it's mostly because it is a time consuming "treasure hunt", depending on your definition of treasure. Anyways I try to avoid it unless I have the time, but I rarely do. In this case, I needed something to wear for a home going service for a friend of my husbands. Like many times, it never fails that when you have something to go to, you never have anything to wear. I didn't want to spend money on anything new and I didn't feel like making something from scratch, so as I was driving back home from running my errands I said maybe I could stop by the Goodwill store and find something to refashion.

With an open mind and a bit of patience, I went through the dresses and finally found 2 polka dot dresses. I looked at them and said there was no way I would have ever bought this, but I said there is enough fabric to make something else. I paid for them and headed off. I inspected them to see if there would be anything that wouldn't make it work and I threw them in the washer for an extra clean.

Pinterest is your best friend, at least I know it's my best friend and so I typed in polka dot dress and all this inspiration came up.I picked something I could work towards and this was it.

He is risen! And so is the Easter fashion. Living in the South you realize how big "Easter fashion"is. Its so big its comical. But not judgement right, all to the glory of the Lord.  Depending on which church you attend you will see all the "what is what" in church fashion. Fortunately I attend a church that is quite diverse with people coming from different backgrounds and so you can choose to dress up or dress down.

I decided to step it up a notch and do an African Maxi skirt that is still trending y'all. People don't seem to be getting tired of these skirts. Not a bad thing though. Skirt pattern was self drafted and a pain to sew LOL.

My look

I love that the Dashiki print is so popular but I kind of have some OCD about how people align it.  I am really trying to think of ways to use this fabric so that it aligns right and is still stylish. Anyways this was what I came with. I used Vogue pattern V8897 for the  tunic.
